Symptoms of a Heart Attack
Cardiovascular disease is still the leading cause of death in the U.S. “Chest pain is the most important symptom of a heart attack. And it can be anything from pressure on the chest, aching sensation, and persistent – lasting more than 30 minutes of so. It could be a heart attack, especially if it is associated with sweating, shortness of breath, feeling dizzy or as if you are passing out,” says Srinivas Vengala, M.D., an interventional cardiologist at CHI St. Vincent. “These are very important symptoms of a heart attack. When you have chest pain and you are at risk of having a heart problem, don’t wait for anything. Either call 911 or go to the nearest hospital. Take action.”
