Obesity is a condition that can lead to serious health complications. If this is not successful, weight loss surgery may be a good option. “The most common weight loss surgery that is being done nationally is the gastric sleeve,” says Dr. Ingram. “There are several advantages. One being that you can’t eat as much at one time but the other being that it improves your hunger. By that I mean that patients don’t feel hungry throughout the day and have to remind themselves to eat. After weight loss surgery the biggest benefit is improving comorbidities and being able to come off medicines for high blood pressure, diabetes and sleep apnea meds. But also being able to sustain it long term.”
