Alesa Garner Honored with Susan G. Komen® Arkansas Care Pillar Award

The Susan G. Komen® Arkansas affiliate has awarded Alesa Garner of the CHI St. Vincent Oncology Care Center and New Outlook Cancer Recovery Program with its 2019 Care Pillar Award. The award recognizes outstanding care initiatives in the state and honored Garner for her strides in partnering with the promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing others to take action.

“I have the honor and privilege of seeing the smiles and the tears of survivors and their caregivers as we work to provide a small glimmer of hope in the midst of a traumatic cancer diagnosis,” said Garner. “New Outlook truly embodies the ministry and mission of our organization in addressing the needs of body, mind, and spirit.”

The New Outlook Cancer Recovery Program at CHI St. Vincent provides assistance in dealing with the effects of cancer and its treatment. That includes support groups for cancer survivors and their families, private professional counseling, information or referral services and makeover classes as well as wigs and head scarves for patients. Thanks to generous support, most programs and services at the New Outlook Cancer Recovery Program at CHI St. Vincent are available at no cost to patients or their families.

Garner accepted the award at the MORE THAN PINK WALK™ in October which drew together breast cancer survivors, those living with metastatic breast cancer, volunteers, community supporters and local leaders to downtown Little Rock to empower a community of hope and raise funds for breast cancer treatment, patient advocacy and lifesaving research.
