Routine Exam Uncovers a Herniated Disc in a Cabot Football Player
Dr. Rachel White with our Primary Care Jacksonville - Main Street clinic helped one high school athlete avoid further injury after she discovered he had a herniated disc during a routine wellness exam.
Adam Flores is projected to be the starting fullback this season but the wrong hit or turn could've caused further damage to his spine and even paralysis.
Flores would never have gotten the treatment he needed if he didn't mention it during his routine physical for school.
“It's very important to schedule a routine wellness exam because there are many things we check for, that can cause a player to have a sudden death or worsen an injury that's already there,” Dr. White said.
Through slow, methodical therapy and monitoring, Flores is back on the field and good to go.
