Sadie Green, Pharm.D.

Dr. Sadie Green attended the University of Mississippi where she received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences in May 2020 followed by her Doctor of Pharmacy in May 2023. Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Dr. Green joined the CHI St. Vincent Infirmary team as a PGY1 Pharmacy Resident from June 2023-2024. Her PGY1 research project focused on reducing readmission rates in high risk for readmission heart failure patients. She also completed the UAMS teaching and research certificate programs. Post-residency, she will join VillageMD as a PGY2 Pharmacy Resident in Population Health and Data Analytics. She enjoys spending time doing hobbies, relaxing with friends and family, and reading.

 

 

Erica Smith, Pharm.D.

Erica Smith, Pharm.D.

Dr. Erica Smith completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at UAMS College of Pharmacy in May of 2023. Originally from White Hall, AR, she attended the University of Central Arkansas for her undergraduate studies. Erica joined the CHI St. Vincent pharmacy team as a PGY1 resident for the 2023-2024 year. During her residency, she completed the research and teaching certificate programs through UAMS. She conducted a research project on the incidence of and risk factors for the development of cefepime-induced encephalopathy. Erica’s professional interests include oncology, cardiology, and critical care. She joined CHI St. Vincent Infirmary as a clinical pharmacist after completing her residency in 2024. Erica precepts cardiology for the residency program. In her spare time, Erica enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, and playing tennis.

Rachel Johnson, Pharm.D., BCPS

Rachel Senn, Pharm.D

Dr. Rachel Senn completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at UAMS College of Pharmacy in May of 2022. Originally from Little Rock, AR, she attended the University of Central Arkansas for her undergraduate studies. Rachel joined the CHI St. Vincent pharmacy team as a PGY1 resident for the 2022-2023 year. During her residency she will be completing a research certificate program as well as a teaching certificate program through UAMS. She will also be conducting a research project on the incidence of acute kidney injury in patients receiving vancomycin as antibiotic therapy. Upon completion of her residency, Rachel would like to work as a clinical pharmacist, pursue board certification, and precept pharmacy students and residents. In her spare time, Rachel enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, hiking, and staying involved at her local church. Rachel looks forward to serving her future patients through the skills she will learn in the CHI St. Vincent PGY1 Residency Program.

 

Caleb Shelton, Pharm.D.

Caleb Shelton, Pharm.DDr. Caleb Shelton received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Harding University. Before pharmacy school he attended Arkansas State University, majoring in biology. Caleb completed his PGY1 residency at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary in 2023. He completed the UAMS Teaching Certificate and Research Certificate programs during his residency. His PGY1 research project focused on the efficacy and safety of enoxaparin treatment dosing in patients with severe renal impairment.  After the completion of his PGY1 residency year, Caleb stayed on at CHI St. Vincent, taking a position at the Sherwood campus as a clinical pharmacist. Caleb plans to pursue board certification in the near future. 

Past Residents 2021-2022

Rachell Eaker, Pharm.D.

Rachell Eaker, Pharm.D.Dr. Rachell Eaker was born in Gretna, Louisiana. At age 5, she and her family moved to Oxford, Mississippi - where she calls home.  Rachell received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from The University of Mississippi-School of Pharmacy before joining the team at CHI St. Vincent as a PGY-1 Pharmacy Resident for the 2021-2022 class.  Dr. Eaker successfully completed both her research and teaching certificates through UAMS during her residency.  She and her husband also welcomed their first baby in February of 2022.  Dr. Eaker's PGY1 research project was on reduced weight-based enoxaparin dosing in obese patients to help reduce bleeding events. Upon completion of her pharmacy residency, Rachell and her family returned home to Mississippi to begin her post-residency career at Saint Francis Healthcare in Memphis, TN as a clinical and inpatient pharmacist.  There, Dr. Eaker will practice in various areas throughout the hospital as well as be a pharmacy specialist in the emergency department.  Rachell plans to pursue pharmacotherapy board certification in the future. If Rachell had any advice to give the upcoming residency classes, it would be that you are CAPABLE of anything and the days are long but the year is fast, take it one day at a time!

 

Sarah Kuhn, Pharm.D.

Sarah Kuhn, Pharm.D.Dr. Sarah Kuhn received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Prior to pharmacy school, she attended undergrad at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Sarah went on to complete a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary where she participated in the teaching and research certificate programs through UAMS. Her research project focused on evaluating the efficacy of sodium zirconium cyclosilicate in preventing the progression to emergent hemodialysis in severe hyperkalemia. Sarah stayed on with our organization at the completion of her PGY-1 residency as a clinical pharmacist.  Her future plans include board certification in pharmacotherapy and becoming a preceptor to future students and residents. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, playing board games, and hanging out at the river.

Darby Ballestero, Pharm.D., BCPS

Darby Ballestero, Pharm.D.Dr. Darby Ballestero was born and raised in Owasso, Oklahoma. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Darby successfully completed the teaching and research certificate programs through UAMS during her residency. Her PGY1 research project was over the impact of pharmacist driven interventions in mechanically ventilated patients in the medical intensive care unit. Upon completion of her pharmacy residency, Darby returned back to Oklahoma as a clinical pharmacist specialist at Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System (Jack C. Montgomery).  There, Dr. Ballestero sees patients in an ambulatory clinic and assists with disease state management for patients with chronic disease states such as diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and thyroid disorders.  Darby plans to pursue pharmacy board certification in the near future.

 

Jayme Holland, Pharm.D. BCPS

Jayme Holland, Pharm.D.

Dr. Jayme Holland is a 2020 graduate of The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences- College of Pharmacy. She is from Sherwood, AR and attended undergrad at the University of Arkansas before pharmacy school. Jayme joined CHI St. Vincent Infirmary in June 2020 as a PGY1 Pharmacy Resident. During her residency, she obtained a teaching certificate as well as a research certificate from UAMS. Her research project focused on heart failure education with therapy recommendations made to providers in order to reduce 30-day hospital readmission rates for patients with systolic heart failure. This coincided with her clinical interest in cardiology. During her free time, Jayme enjoys spending time with her friends and family, watching Grey’s Anatomy, playing with her goldendoodle puppies, reading, and visiting Disney World as much as possible.  Jayme accepted a post-residency position at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary as a full-time clinical pharmacist.  She became board certified in Pharmacotherapy in Spring of 2022.

Jenny Belz, Pharm.D.

Jenny Belz

Dr. Jenny Belz, 2019-2020 resident, was born and raised in Benton, AR. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Arkansas, where she cheered on the Hogs as an Arkansas Razorbacks cheerleader. Jenny went on to earn her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in May of 2019. She joined CHI St. Vincent in July 2019 as one of two, PGY1 Pharmacy Residents. Jenny completed the teaching certificate program and research certificate program through UAMS during her residency. She completed a research project focused on the facility specific risk factors for developing Clostridioides difficile infection. Jenny’s clinical interests include critical care and emergency medicine. Upon completion of residency, Jenny accepted a Critical Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialist position at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  In 2022, she transitioned into a Clinical Coordinator position at the same organization.


Barrett Carter, Pharm.D. BCPS

Barrett Carter

Dr. Barrett Carter, a 2019-2020 resident, is originally from Frankston, Texas.  He received his Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Sam Houston State University and his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Harding University College of Pharmacy.  While at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary, Barrett performed a residency research project focused on sedation stewardship in mechanically ventilated patients, specifically targeting reducing midazolam usage Barrett also completed the teaching and research certificate programs through the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Pharmacy during residency. Barrett’s professional interests include critical care, emergency medicine, and infectious diseases. Upon completion of his pharmacy residency, Barrett returned back to East Texas.  Post-residency he accepted a position as an ED Pharmacist, and soon after the Pharmacy Clinical Manager at UT Health East Texas.  Dr. Carter became board certified in Pharmacotherapy in Fall of 2021.

Jamie Currier, Pharm.D., BCPS

Jamie Courier

Dr. Jamie Currier, the 2018-2019 resident, was born and raised in McCrory, AR. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Arkansas Tech University. Jamie was inducted into the RHO Chi International Honor Society for Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2016. She then went on to earn her Masters of Business Administration from Harding University College of Business in 2017 and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Harding University College of Pharmacy in 2018. She joined CHI St. Vincent in July 2018 as the first PGY1 Pharmacy Resident. Jamie earned a teaching certificate and research certificate from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Pharmacy during her residency. She completed a research project focused on utilization of the Pulmonary Embolism Severity Index (PESI) score and outpatient treatment of pulmonary embolism, which was completed in April 2019.   During residency Dr. Currier pursued the Society of Infectious Disease Pharmacists (SIDP) Antimicrobial Stewardship Certificate Program which she completed in October of 2019.  Jamie’s clinical interests include critical care, infectious disease, and emergency medicine.  Jamie accepted a clinical pharmacy position at Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden, AR in July 2019 before returning to CHI St. Vincent Infirmary as a clinical pharmacist in January 2020.  Dr. Currier is board certified in pharmacotherapy and currently works as a clinical pharmacist at CHI St. Vincent and Baptist Health Medical Center - North Little Rock.  In 2022, she accepted the role of Residency Program Coordinator for Baptist Health Medical Center - North Little Rock.
