Arkansas Neuroscience Institute at CHI St. Vincent Hosts International Neurosurgeons

Leading neurosurgeons from around the world joined CHI St. Vincent Arkansas Neuroscience Institute (ANI) Director Dr. Ali Krisht Dec 14–16 for an Advanced Course in Cerebral Aneurysms. The hands-on workshop, which featured the Aboud Model: Live Cadaver for live surgeries with life-like simulations, was the next step in the ANI Research and Education Center’s mission to improve treatment outcomes for patients and provide training for neurosurgeons to develop the skills necessary to tackle the most complex cases.

“There are so few places around the world equipped to deliver the kind of hands-on training that the ANI Research and Education Center was designed from the ground up to provide,” said Dr. Krisht who directed the Advanced Course on Cerebral Aneurysms. “Courses like this where leading minds in the field of neurosurgery and developing neurosurgeons alike can come together to master new skills are how we begin to move the needle globally to improve the lives and outcomes for people facing severe neurological conditions around the world.”

The Advanced Course in Cerebral Aneurysms featured honored guests Dr. Evandro de Oliveira, State University of Campinas Director at the Institute of Neurological Sciences in Sao Paulo, Brazil; Dr. Juha Hernesniemi of Helsinki University Central Hospital in Helsinki, Finland; Dr. Giuseppe Lanzino, Professor of Neurosurgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota; Dr. Ketan Ramanlal Bulsara, Chief of Neurosurgery at the University of Connecticut; Dr. Miguel Lopez-Gonzalez of Loma Linda University; Dr. Ruben Dammers of Erasmus MC and Sophia Children’s Hospital in Rotterdam, Netherlands; and Dr. Sanford Hsu of Taipei Veterans General Hospital.

The ANI Research and Education Center on the campus of CHI St. Vincent North in Sherwood, Arkansas includes the M.G. Yasargil Neurosurgical Research and Education Center and O. Al-Mefty Microneurosurgery Laboratory, the only fully equipped laboratory featuring the Aboud Model: Live Cadaver for advanced neurosurgical training.
