Dr. Ashish Tikotekar Discusses Lung Cancer and Screening

As seen on KARK's Arkansas Today

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in Arkansas. More Arkansans die from lung cancer than from breast, colon and prostate cancer combined.

Dr. Ashish Tikotekar, pulomonologist at CHI St. Vincent Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine Clinic in Little Rock talks about the prevalence of lung cancer in Arkansas and some of the risk factors. "80-90 percent of all lung cancers are smoking related, but you have your air pollution, you have industrial pollution and you have genetic mutations," said Dr. Tikotekar.

Screening is still the most important prevention. CHI St. Vincent offers lung screening options. As in most cancers, early detection is key.

CHI St. Vincent also offers various methods of treatment from surgical options to newer modalities such as immunotherapy.
