Dr. Peter Emanuel Brings Commitment to Excellence as New Oncology Leader

CHI St. Vincent has named Dr. Peter Emanuel as its new director of oncology services as CHI St. Vincent works to expand its oncology program and cancer treatment options in the community.

Emanuel comes to CHI St. Vincent from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he was director of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute. The internationally renowned oncologist is a leading researcher of adult and pediatric forms of leukemia.



“Dr. Emanuel is recognized worldwide for his scholarship, his leadership and his commitment to excellence,” said Chad Aduddell, CEO of CHI St. Vincent. “He is an asset to the CHI St. Vincent team and to this community, and we are glad to have him as we work to grow the oncology program at CHI St. Vincent and provide our patients with excellent and compassionate care.”

Emanuel, a Wisconsin native, attended medical school at the University of Wisconsin He completed an internship and residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital. After a fellowship in hematology/oncology at UAB, he was a professor in the Department of Medicine, Genetics and Biochemistry at UAB. He was acting director of UAB’s Comprehensive Cancer Institute before going to UAMS in 2007.

His research has been consistently funded by the National Institutes of Health for more than 25 years, and he is routinely named to the Castle Connolly “Best Doctors in America” list.

Dr. Emanuel will begin seeing patients in late September in an office in the Parkview Building on the campus of the Infirmary.
